“Chang’e” flew to the moon, stunning the world! “Changing Five” sends “Changing Five”, the moon goes to “dig earth”. With the successful launch of Chang’e 5, China’s first lunar sample return mission continues to attract worldwide attention!
At 22:00 on December 2, after about 19 hours of lunar surface work, the lunar exploration project Change-5 probe successfully completed the automatic sampling of the lunar surface, and the samples were packaged and stored in the storage device carried by the ascender in a predetermined form. Eventually, Change-5 will bring about 2 kilograms of lunar samples back to Earth for scientists to conduct detailed analysis and research in the laboratory. It seems simple to sample and dig the soil, but it contains high technology! Superhard materials industry experts, the team of Professor Duan Longchen and Professor Li Dafo from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) participated in part of the drilling plan design and drilling simulation test. The “Change” was equipped with diamonds, combined with surface drills and multi-point sampling. In this way, two “digging” modes of drilling tool drilling and robotic arm surface extraction are designed.
