In November 2020, the IGI International Gemological Institute recently inspected a gem-quality CVD cultivated diamond (finished diamond) weighing 12.75 carats. Its rough stone weighs 46.20 carats. This is currently the world’s largest CVD cultivated diamond.
IGI gemologists confirmed that this 12.75 carat CVD diamond is type IIa, with a clarity of VVS2, a color of F, and a cut grade of 3EX. After careful scientific testing, IGI confirmed that this diamond has not undergone any post-processing, so it can be regarded as a “completely pure CVD-grown cultivated diamond.”
Bob Van Es, head of the IGI Hong Kong laboratory, believes: “A laboratory-grown diamond that can achieve such a level of weight, clarity, and color is an extraordinary achievement in the CVD field. IGI will continue to pay close attention to the new development of this cutting-edge technology. ”
